My play testers got into the game “Black Powder” for the Civil War era. I couldn’t wait to make specific terrain pieces for it! I love the American West and even though the West wasn’t really part of the Civil War, terrain pieces can translate to the South as well. Along with the Southern House I recently made and a Water Tank piece to go along with it, I’m beginning to build an American specific library. Researching how these types of windmills work and finding reference was also a lot of fun and I frankly can’t wait to keep making more pieces for this particular era and landscape. My favorite things about this windmill is that once the end cap is glued to keep the blades secured, you can spin them. As well as the tail printing in one piece, it can be moved back and forth.
Normally on functioning windmills, there’s a pump that the windmill operates that pipes to a water tank. I decided to not worry about the pump portion because it would be harder to print and I didn’t want to have to connect the two terrain pieces, so placement could be more flexible. I think it looked stunning on the battlefield, along with the agricultural fields I’ve almost finished making, and can’t wait to release a farm pack.
Stay tuned!
