I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who adores architecture. Sure, you have Brutalism that is designed to be perfunctory and soulless in a way, but I even love that era/style. It could be the myriad of spy flicks filmed in cities with imposing cement behemoths that makes me romanticize the design, but all the same. I especially find myself swooning over Art Deco with its bold lines and scary statues. (Come on, they’re scary.)
Did I get sidetracked? Likely.
I’ve had a lot of reasons to research architecture of a variety of different periods and genres. I’m working on many things, always, but one of the projects is a fantasy town that is a mixing pot of a lot of different peoples and cultures and the neighborhoods reflect this in their design. As I’ve learned lately though: Reference. Reference. Reference. All projects are made better when taking from things that already exist. A temple designed with Hindi influence, Gregorian neighborhoods, British Isles castle keeps, and more. So, I get overly excited then when I find a rich resource:

I would love to credit the photos with the name of the photographer, but so far I can only find “me” on the website with no name, so I’m doing my best with linking to their site and the particular posts I took the pictures from.
This is a lot of work; research, driving around, getting pictures, categorizing, and I very much appreciate the effort. I hope they can continue to provide more pictures and information and if you can, you can go to their website and help support the project.
